What counts as a sale

• A sale is a completed public auction with a final price. That is the number behind every "median sold" on this site.
• A bid that did not meet reserve is not a sale. It is shown on the chart as a hollow dot (real interest, no deal) and never enters a median.
• A dealer price is an ask, not a sale. When a dealer marks a car sold, we record it at the last asking price and label it that way. It never enters a sold median.
• A car moving from one dealer to another is a transfer, not a sale.

One car, one record

Every listing and result is matched to its car by VIN. The same car listed on three sites is one car with a history, and an auction that several sites repeat counts once. Each VIN has its own page with every time it came to market.

Comparable prices

• Hammer-equivalent. Some auction houses quote the price including their buyer's premium. We back out that house's standard premium (10–16%, 11% where unknown) so every sale reads as the hammer price.
• US dollars at the sale-date rate. Foreign sales are converted at the European Central Bank reference rate for the day of the sale.

The right car in the right market

• Markets are split by generation and body, and by gearbox where the market trades that way: a manual GT3 Touring is not averaged with a PDK one.
• A result is filed in a market only if its model year and title fit that market. Rows that stop fitting are moved to the right market or removed, never averaged in.
• Special trims inside a market (a Weissach package, a Competition) are tagged so you can see them, not quietly blended.

The numbers on each page

• Median sold (12 months): the middle hammer-equivalent price of the last 12 months of sales, with the number of sales and the low–high range.
• 12-month change: the median of the last four quarters against the four before, shown only when each side has at least three sales.
• Trend chart: quarterly medians. A quarter with no sales is a gap, never filled in; a quarter with one or two sales is drawn hollow.
• Sell-through: sold ÷ (sold + reserve not met), last 12 months.
• Median ask: the middle asking price of cars for sale right now.
• Estimates are labeled. Where a dealer's sale price isn't public, the dealer pages show an estimate from comparable sales, marked as an estimate and bounded to 60–115% of the car's last ask.

Every market is refreshed daily. Auction results come from Bring a Trailer, Cars & Bids, RM Sotheby's, Mecum, Collecting Cars, Broad Arrow, Barrett-Jackson, Bonhams, Gooding, PCARMARKET, Hagerty, SBX Cars and other public auction houses, plus the live inventory of the dealers on our dealer leaderboard. Every market page shows the date its data was last updated.

What we are not

Prices here are what the market cleared, not an appraisal of any one car. We don't sell cars, take listings, or rank anyone for money. Something wrong? Tell us and we'll fix it.
